Bitch, Bitch, Bitch

Everybody bitches too much.

You bitch too much.

I bitch too much.

Your wife, or your husband, bitches too much.

Your kids bitch too much.

Your co-workers bitch too much.

And on and on.

Everyone bitches too much. About unscrupulous politicians, about left-leaning and right-leaning newscasters, about sports figures taking a knee, about immigrants storming the castle, about Russian spies and North Korean nukes and Saudi Arabian kidnap-murderers, about daylight savings time, about credit card fees, and about Game of Thrones only having one more season. Say it ain’t so!

We Americans bitch about everything. With our full bellies and roofs over our heads and new cars in our garages and Netflix on our 65-inch high-def TV screen, we still complain. While 15,000 children die every day around the world from malnutrition, bad water or disease. That’s 15,000 children a day, or 10 children dying from neglect every minute of the day.

While we just sit there and …

Oh shit, I’m doing it again. Bitching and complaining. Need to take a break.

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving. Study that word for a minute. Split the word in half. Thanks. Giving. As in you giving thanks for what you have.

Thanks for your family. Thanks for your health. Thanks for your friends. Thanks for your country. Thanks for your job and your weekly paycheck. Thanks for your religion of choice. Thanks for your freedom. Thanks for the turkey and the stuffing and the mashed potatoes and the green bean casserole on your table tomorrow. Thanks for the pecan pie and coffee afterwards while you play Charades or watch college football.

Tomorrow, give thanks for all of that.

On Friday we can all go back to bitching.
